Darren Lunde of the American Museum of Natural History found this shrew in Vietnam in 2003. The beetle under the shrew’s paw is Quammenis spectabilis. The beetle was discovered in Costa Rica by Terry Erwin of the Smithsonian Institute, and named after Dave Quammen, noted natural history writer and author of “The Song of the Dodo”.
